Balloon Fesival in Highland Village
The kids went with Shane and I to the balloon festival here by Lake Lewisville. We had a great time, even in the 100 degree weather. Luckily, there was plenty of water to buy. And Troy will not be shocked to learn I forgot the camera. So I will describe what we did. There was a small arts and crafts area that we walked through. Shane bought some salsa made from green olives and jalepeno and other stuff. I didn't partake, however, so you will have to take his word that it was good. After that, we went to the carnival. They each rode four rides, starting with the giant slide. The look on Logan's face was priceless. He was horrified he was going to slide out of control and had a death grip on Megan's arm, which probably slowed her down a little. They rode bumper cars and the carousel together. Megan talked Shane into going on the twirly ride and Logan settled for the little kid roller coaster. It was fun. We ate some fresh tamales and kettle corn as we watched the balloons were blown up. We counted twenty-two in all. We thought they would be taking off at dusk but much to the kid's disappointment they just filled with air and sat on the ground for about 30 minutes. I guess we will need to get up early next year and go see them take off. We enjoyed the experience!
